You’ve seen the headlines. You’ve heard the hype. The Reject Shop is now part of global retail giant Dollarama, and we’re building something big.

2026 is shaping up to be a defining year for our business as we continue to expand our store network, evolve our customer experience and grow towards 700 stores. Behind every new store, every fixture and every piece of equipment is a Finance team ensuring our business is supported by accurate, reliable financial information.

We’re looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Fixed Asset Accountant to join our Finance team at our Store Support Centre. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in managing our capital expenditure (CAPEX) and fixed asset portfolio across the business, ensuring assets are accurately recorded, maintained and accounted for as we continue to grow.

This is an opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who takes pride in accuracy, thrives on structure and discipline, and understands the importance of getting the details right. If you enjoy working in a hands-on role where your work directly supports the financial integrity of a growing retail business, this could be the opportunity for you.

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing the end-to-end fixed asset process, from assessing capital expenditure to ensuring assets are correctly classified and recorded in the fixed asset register.

  • Maintaining the fixed asset portfolio across the business, ensuring records are accurate, complete and up to date.

  • Reviewing CAPEX expenditure relating to new stores, fixtures, plumbing, equipment and other business assets to determine appropriate asset treatment.

  • Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider Finance team to support the accurate management and reporting of fixed assets.

  • Managing intercompany charges, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.

  • Supporting month-end activities, particularly during the month-end close period, ensuring deadlines are met and financial information is reliable.

  • Maintaining strong processes and controls around fixed asset accounting, bringing discipline, consistency and attention to detail to all activities.

  • Assisting with ad hoc finance tasks and contributing to the ongoing effectiveness of the Finance team.

What you’ll bring

  • 4–5 years of relevant accounting experience, with demonstrated experience in fixed asset accounting, CAPEX or a similar financial accounting role.

  • CPA qualification, demonstrating your commitment to professional accounting standards and continued development.

  • Strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting principles, including asset recognition, classification, recording and ongoing maintenance.

  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage a detailed portfolio of assets while maintaining accuracy and consistency.

  • A high level of attention to detail, coupled with the ability to understand the bigger picture and recognise the broader financial implications of your work.

  • A disciplined and methodical approach, with the confidence to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain reliable financial records.

  • Experience with month-end processes, intercompany transactions and financial reconciliations.

  • The ability to navigate the nuances of a complex fixed asset environment, learn established processes and adapt to the way we do things.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with the Finance Manager and broader team.

  • A proactive mindset, with the flexibility to support ad hoc tasks and contribute wherever needed.

What we can offer you

  • The opportunity to join a growing Australian retailer as part of global retail giant Dollarama.

  • A hands-on role where your expertise will directly contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.

  • The opportunity to work closely with the Finance Manager and build strong relationships across the business.

  • A collaborative team environment where organisation, accountability and attention to detail are valued.

  • The chance to develop your experience within a large, evolving retail business with an expanding national store network.

As The Reject Shop continues its next chapter of growth with Dollarama, strong financial foundations are more important than ever. As our Fixed Asset Accountant, you’ll play an important role in ensuring our assets are accurately managed and our Finance team is equipped to support the business today and into the future.
