You’ve seen the headlines. You’ve heard the hype. The Reject Shop is now part of global retail giant Dollarama, and we’re building something big.
2026 is shaping up to be a defining year. Our store network is expanding, our customer experience is evolving, and we’re growing towards 700 stores. Behind every report, every dashboard, and every strategic decision is a modern data platform powering the insights that guide our next chapter, and that’s where you come in.
We’re looking for a skilled Data Engineer to join our Technology team at the Store Support Centre. This is a hands‑on role focused on uplifting our reporting environment, transitioning legacy reporting into Power BI, and helping prepare the business for a wave of new reporting and analytics needs from Dollarama.
If you bring strong Power BI capability, understand how to build structured reporting layers, and enjoy creating scalable, well‑designed semantic models, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a rapidly growing retail environment.
What you’ll be doing
- Owning the transition of a suite of legacy reports into Power BI, ensuring accuracy, performance, and usability.
- Building high‑quality Power BI reports and dashboards on top of existing data sources and models.
- Designing, developing, and refining semantic models to support scalable, repeatable reporting.
- Working closely with stakeholders across Technology and the business to understand reporting needs and translate them into well‑structured solutions.
- Preparing the platform and reporting layers for accelerated demand from our new global partner, Dollarama.
- Helping uplift the maturity of our reporting environment by applying structured development principles, versioning, documentation, and best practice build methods.
- Where applicable, using Python to optimise, transform, or enhance data preparation workflows.
- Contributing to the evolution of our Microsoft Fabric environment.
What you’ll bring
- Strong hands‑on experience with Power BI, including report building and data modelling.
- Knowledge of semantic modelling, including star schemas, calculation groups, and optimised datasets.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric (or a strong interest in learning it).
- Experience building reporting solutions on top of an established data platform or modern data stack.
- Skills in Python (ideal but not essential) - or a willingness to grow in this area.
- A structured approach to building and enhancing reporting assets so they can be easily maintained and improved over time.
- A proactive, self‑directed working style suited to fast‑moving environments.
- A preference for organisations where you’re empowered to solve problems rather than waiting to be handed tasks.
What we can offer you
- The opportunity to take ownership of reporting uplift across a major national retailer.
- A role where your work directly enables data‑driven decision‑making across stores, support teams, and leadership.
- Engagement with global teams across Dollarama as new reporting requirements emerge.
- A chance to help shape the future state of our reporting environment and data platform.
- A stable, meaningful role within a growing Technology team during an exciting period of expansion.
- Employee benefits including paid parental leave, wellbeing initiatives, and EAP support.
- A professional, inclusive environment that values accountability, initiative, and technical excellence.
This is more than a data engineering role. It’s your chance to help build the reporting foundation powering the next chapter of growth at The Reject Shop.
